COLIN Youngjohns has revealed he will quit as Kidderminster Harriers chairman if he does not have the continued support of the Aggborough faithful.

The Harriers supremo has repeated his stance that he is only in "temporary" charge of the football club and is more than willing to stand aside for somebody better qualified.

And Youngjohns admits his three-year tenure in the Harriers hotseat will end if if he loses the backing of fans or decides to vacate the position on health grounds.

"When I feel that the body of support is not with me I will be gone," he said.

"If I get the feedback from the 1,900 or however many it is that I'm not supported or anybody else thinks they could do a better job, then be my guest. When the fans tell me "Your time's up Buster, you r sell-by date has expired," that's when I'm gone and that's the way football should be. As I said in the first programme in 2002 I see it as only a temporary job, I'm just holding the keys to the shop at the moment.

"I don't feel I match the criteria to be chairman, financially I'm not wealthy enough to do it.

"But short of somebody coming in, I'm holding the fort, although there may be other factors involved for me healthwise."

Youngjohns takes responsibility for the situation Kidderminster find themselves in and openly admits he made a mistake trusting Jan Molby too much last summer.

"I'm the chairman for the time being and it's my responsibility where we are. Do you really think there is anybody in this ground, or town or country that feels it more than me after putting a lifetime's work into the football club?"

Youngjohns has been stung by claims that the club continues to employ stalwarts like Phil Mullen and Jim Conway on a "jobs for the boys" basis.

He added: "Everything that I've ever done and will ever do will have the club's best interests at heart at all times as long as I'm here."

There are injury doubts over Wayne Hatswell, Gary Birch and Dean Keates ahead of the trip to Shrewsbury, but Lee Jenkins should be fit.

Mansfield midfielder Wayne Corden is set to snub Harriers to join promotion-chasing Scunthorpe.
