WYRE Forest Swimming Club's Vicky Wassell won a bronze medal in the first gala of the 2005 Worcester County Championships.
She recorded a time of 10 minutes and 22.66 seconds to finish third in the 13 years age group 800m freestyle at Hereford.
Also representing the club at the gala was Verity Thorley, who was ninth in the same event with a time of 11 minutes 28.13 seconds.
Meanwhile, Wyre Forest fielded a B team for Stourbridge SC's John Vaughan Trophy Gala at Wombourne, handing debuts to Luke Barnett and Martin Sloan.
Wyre Forest were vying for second or third place in the early stages but due to a lack of older girls they were forced to use younger swimmers in the 15 years and Open age groups.
In the end they gained nine first places, five seconds and four thirds out of 54 races with swimmers achieving 47 personal best times.
Final Points: Perry Beeches SSS 237, Stourbridge B 213, Haden Hill 201, Wyre Forest 157, Oldbury 154, Kingsbury 149.
