WORK will begin today on a £150,000 scheme to tidy the Church Green West area.
The work will last for four to five weeks and will include replacement/re-alignment of kerbs, reconstruction of footways, alterations to the William Street junction, carriageway resurfacing, alterations to road markings, new railings and new bus stops.
There will be a change to some of the signs on Church Green West to improve clarity and reduce clutter. There will also be some re-kerbing works in Unicorn Hill starting today and lasting about four to five days.
Pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained at all times during the work.
Traffic light control and stop and go boards will be used when resurfacing the carriageway and applying the new road markings.
The work is being phased in an attempt to reduce disruption but the bus stops will need to be moved during part of the works.
Temporary stops will be located around 50m further along Church Green West in an easterly direction using the temporary bus stop markings installed during the construction of the bus station.
It is a joint venture by Redditch Council and Worcestershire County Council and will be equally funded by both authorities.
Anyone wishing to view the plans should visit the town hall.
