CHADDESLEY Corbett's players have issued a "stick together" message after their cup hopes were ended with a crushing 4-0 defeat to Kington Town Reserves.

Two goals in either half destroyed the home side who were unconvincing and played with a lack of confidence at a damp Longmore in the West Midlands League Division Two Cup on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Simon Wright admitted he was at fault for the first goal but redeemed himself with a string of fine saves to keep the score down.

"I was to blame for the first goal but collectively we let ourselves down today," said Wright.

"Everyone connected with the playing side has to pull together and show the determination to put some pride back into our season.

"Firstly Richard Downey and now our present manager Martin Westcott have both worked hard.

"We let Richard down and now we are not helping Martin.

"We sat together afterwards in the changing room and there is still plenty of spirit in the squad".

His sentiments were echoed by new signing, former Fairfield Villa player James Dale, who said: "Basically we are a new side and it takes time to gel into a team.

"We have quality players lacking in confidence, if we stick at it results will come.

"The players spoke about turning things around, the desire is there".

Their next match is against Dudley United in a rearranged league fixture at Longmore at 2.15pm on Saturday. Players to meet at 12.45.

Chaddesley have signed former Kings Heath veteran Peter Begley and are hoping to sign Ludlow Town forward Stuart Millichamp.

Mark Dearlove has returned from injury but youngster Adam Knight is out with a hand injury and Andy Reynolds starts a five-week suspension.
