KIDDERMINSTER Carolians kept their recent mini unbeaten run rolling with a battling 7-7 draw in a friendly at Kings Norton.
After vital Midlands Three West North victories over Wednesbury and Telford, KCs produced another hard-working display.
Despite the muddy pitch, pouring rain and biting wind, both sides tried to play good rugby and ultimately a draw was a fair result.
Given that Kings Norton have recovered from some difficult seasons to top North Midlands One this term, they provided KCs with a decent run out.
In their best form of the campaign season, KCs fielded a strong enough side but made a few changes with Saturday's tough trip to Shrewsbury(kick off 2.15pm) in mind.
The Marlpool Lane men nearly opened the scoring when prop forward Lee Southerton handed the ball to Ambro Neri but the speedy winger was well-tackled.
Kings Norton were the first to score with a converted try in the 26th minute and although there was some good play by both sides, the conditions made it tricky with the hosts' kicker missing a penalty just before the break.
Trailing 7-0 at half time, KCs levelled when a good drive saw prop Chris Wright score a try with stand-off Andy Stooksbury adding the extras with a superb kick.
The seconds host Shrewsbury at 2.15pm on Saturday.
The thirds hope to bounce back from their 10-5 defeat to Ledbury, which included a Will Whitehouse try, when they host Bromsgrove at 2.15pm on Saturday.
A penalty plus a converted try wonthis game for Ledbury. KCs could only muster a try by Will Whitehouse. Paul Warman, Jonn Shires and Martyn Wright were the pick of the KCs team
