WESTFIELDS earned a valuable home point from a 2-2 draw with rivals Malvern Town at allpay.park last night.

The Hereford side hauled themselves from 2-0 down in an exciting Travel Factory Alliance match in front of 143 spectators.

It was an action-packed game from start to finish with Malvern dictating the first-half and Westfields on top in the second when they were unlucky not to snatch all three points.

Malvern, currently third in the table and the in-form team in the league, took a 20th minute lead when Simon Judge headed home after Jon Pugh had saved well from Tommy Callinan.

Malvern increased their lead 13 minutes later. Pugh again saved well but the ball ran free and former Cheltenham Town player Callinan raced in to slam home.

Westfields began to hit back and Paul Burton got free of the Malvern defence but his fierce drive was saved.

However, just before the break, Burton produced a piece of magic to side-step his marker and his right-wing cross to the far post was headed in by Wayne Hoskins.

Matt Aubrey replaced the injured Mark Hibbard for the second-half and he began to open up Malvern as Westfields got back into the game.

Westfields also sent on Matt Beale after 65 minutes and he produced a superb corner for Derek Craddock to head home his 11th goal of the season from six yards for the equaliser.

Westfields got on top and late in the game Craddock and Scott Jackson both went close to producing a winner as the hosts produced a strong finish to maintain their five-match unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, Ledbury Town demolished Wednesfield 6-1 last night in the West Midlands League Premier Division Cup second round.

With less than a minute on the clock, a pin-point cross from Dave Skipp found Robbie Colwell who slipped the ball under the 'keeper.

Lee Hooper made it two with a well-placed header from eight yards following a Stuart Hall free-kick.

Craig Humphries acrobatically finger-tipped Kyle Brady's free-kick over the bar but Ledbury grabbed a third on 16 minutes.

Skipp's mazy run was ended by a foul and Hooper pounced for his second from a Hall set-piece.

Though Wednesfield reduced the arrears through Anton Johns, Ledbury were 4-1 up by half-time when Mark Brookes hit his first goal of the season after a superb one-two with Hall.

On 52 minutes, Oliver Thompson picked out Hall who beat the defence and squared for Nick Bowin to blast home from five yards.

Thompson struck the bar with a volley but Ledbury claimed a sixth when Skipp out-paced the defence onto Scott Mason's pass.
