JAMIE Mills claimed victory at the Worcester Junior Table Tennis Championships.
The youngster won the under-14 singles title in the event at Christopher Whitehead High School.
Mills -- the top seed -- beat David Hull-Blanshard 11-5, 11-5, 11-7 in the final after some thrilling earlier rounds.
The girls under-12s saw last year's winner Chloe Davies go through her group as expected and into the final, beating Jenny Nichols and Jess Lee.
Lee played well in her group, beating Nichols in a close three-set affair. In the other group, fast-improving Amber Perry showed good form, moving her opponents around well and putting the right balls away, before claiming her place in the final.
The final was closely contested but the critical set was the first, which Perry won 11-6. Davies hit back with an 11-6 second-set win, but Perry's confidence rose at the right point and she claimed the under-12s title.
Number one seeds Mills and Robert Hodges were strong contenders for the doubles title which they won against Leon Campbell and Ryan Carter.
In the boys under-12s, eight-year-old Michael Siket reversed his earlier defeat to Chris Kendall by setting up a semi-final with number one seed Campbell.
Campbell got off to a flyer but Siket fought back with some good angled drives to make it 1-1. The youngest player in the tournament then took the third set as an upset looked on the cards.
Campbell, though, fought back to take the last two sets and book a final place with Hull-Blanshard who saw off Jack Dent in the other semi. The final will now be played on Worcester League's finals night.
The under-17s final, which will also be played on finals night, is between reigning champion Mills and number two seed Hodges.
The day ended with the Worcester Schools Championship. The secondary schools final event saw Bishop Perowne and Christopher Whitehead go head-to-head for the title.
Christopher Whitehead battled well and were unlucky not to pick up some matches. Andy Morgan gave a spirited performance, while Kendall was unlucky against Hull-Blanshard.
However, with Mills giving a solid account of himself and brother Samuel following in his footsteps, Bishop Perowne were a force to be reckoned with and took the school honours for the second year.
In the primary schools event, number one seeds St George's RC played St George's B in the final after some tense matches.
Campbell, Ryan Carter and Naim Uddin (St George's C) all played well but St George's B's Shifaz Ditta, Joe Lee and Luke Palmer were just a shade behind the C team's spin serves and follow-up drives.
It ended in Campbell, Carter and Uddin taking the Worcester City Primary School crown for the second year.
