A POPULAR care worker bid farewell to a Droitwich Spa residential home after 30 years of service.
Staff and residents at Rashwood Care Home presented Valerie Sivell with flowers and gift tokens to say thank you for three decades of hard work.
Valerie started work at the Worcester Road home on December 28, 1975, and worked as a senior carer on the residential wing until the age of 60. She holds an NVQ level two award in care of the elderly.
"After her sixtieth birthday Valerie decided to downgrade and become a standard care worker," explained the home's spokeswoman Anne Lodge.
She officially retired last Sunday - a day before her 65th birthday.
"She will be greatly missed by staff and residents alike. Her long service is a real tribute to Rashwood Care Home. We would like to wish Valerie a happy birthday and a wonderful retirement," said Anne.
Valerie lives in Droitwich with her partner and is looking forward to spending some extra time in the garden during her retirement.
"However, she is still coming back to do some voluntary work," added Anne.
