AS someone who hated the first film, I didn't hold out too much hope for the sequel.

However it wasn't as bad as first feared and actually managed to show a modicum of intelligence - an improvemement over its predecessor.

This basically takes up the story where the last one left off.

Raccoon City is overrun by the undead (who wants to live in a place named after a small furry rodent anyway?) after some clever people decide to re-open "The Hive".

The aforementioned Hive is, if anyone remembers or cares, where squillions of people lost their lives only to come back as zombies to kill squillions more.

Cue Milla Jovovich as Alice, the only survivor from before, to spring back into action to save life as we know it.

Luckily, she manages to find a shop which not only sells guns but also a natty range of tight fitting evening wear, before teaming up with an equally unlikely bunch of good looking, tight clothes-wearing survivors. Hurrah!

This does have its moments and tries very hard to display some emotional depth as well as some thought.

But remember this is based on a computer game and has a former model as its star and you get the basic idea.
