AN angry Abbeydale man has decided to take matters into his own hands following recent post office closures.
Pete Farman, of Easemore Road, is distributing forms to residents near Abbeydale post office so they can note the extra expense, time and inconvenience caused by its closure last month.
He said his information would be collated and sent in the form of an ''invoice'' to the Post Office headquarters.
Mr Farman, who is self-employed, said as a regular post office user, he now had to travel to the town centre's office and pay petrol and parking costs before standing in an "horrendous" queue.
He said: "You don't have to be a brain surgeon to realise the central post office will be inundated with customers whose local post offices have closed down."
Post offices in Abbeydale and Batchley shut despite campaigns backed by Redditch MP Jacqui Smith, her Conservative General Election rival Karen Lumley and town councillors.
Mr Farman said: "Not enough thought has been given to people affected by the closures.
''The whole thing was driven by money so I'm also dealing with it in financial terms."
He added: "I'm giving residents a chance to fight back.
''The post offices may be closed but we'll continue to campaign. I refuse to give up."
Mr Farman has received backing from Ms Smith, who said she hoped his actions would make the Post Office think carefully about the impact of their decisions in future.
A Post Office spokesman said Abbeydale was among the most poorly used Redditch branches and lack of profit meant the sub-postmaster was unable to invest in its development.
She said services at the town centre branch and Church Hill would be improved.
