PEOPLE are being urged to carry on having their say on Wyre Forest Birth Centre by writing to the district's maternity services liaison committee.
The group's chairman, Debbie Bakewell, called for comments after watching the group's new lay member, Elizabeth Bytheway, hand over her petition to health chiefs.
Mrs Bakewell said she had been inundated with calls from people wanting to become involved with the group after she appealed for new members in the Shuttle/Times & News but stressed it was essential to maintain public involvement on the issue.
"What we don't want to end up with is no maternity service here at all and we have got to find out from the public what their needs and preferences are in terms of a service for the future," said the mother-of-four from Hartlebury.
"We just need people to say what they need and what particular service within the birth centre they appreciate. It's all right having phone calls but we need it on paper so we've got proof that this is what has been said."
The committee, which comprises heads of midwifery, doctors and health visitors, as well as members of the public, reports directly to the people commissioning the maternity services.
Letters should be addressed to Debbie Bakewell, c/o Wyre Forest Primary Care Trust, 7th floor Brook House, Kidderminster Hospital, Bewdley Road, Kidderminster, DY11 6RJ.
