YOUNG people from Upton- upon-Severn are travelling to youth clubs in Kempsey and Hanley Swan because there is nothing for them in the town itself.
Meanwhile, there have been complaints about bored teenagers loitering in Upton - but parents have been told they will have to lend their support if a similar club is to get off the ground in the town.
"I'm sure there would be people interested if they felt they were part of a big team and not on their own," said Sue Adeney, who helped set up the Hanley club.
The need for a similar one in Upton had been raised by Sheena Walsh at this week's town council meeting.
"The obvious choice for it would be the Hill Centre, which is within walking distance," she said.
"There are always complaints about young people hanging around."
Simon Wilkinson, who is a member of the Hill Centre management committee, said a previous, very active youth club at the Hill Centre had been run by a part-time youth officer, but there was no longer funding for such a post.
A room was available and the only problem was who should run it.
"It's not something those currently working at the centre are qualified to do. They are responsible for sporting activities and are fully stretched.
"If people say they want a youth club and are prepared to run it, we will look very favourably on the financial aspects of having it there," he said.
