FRIENDS of the Earth are seriously concerned to learn that the community network dealing with electrical appliances is due to close on March 2 with the loss of eight jobs.
Since opening last year they have dealt with approximately 6,000 items and restored 1,000 of those for resale.
It is very much a sustainable recycling organisation, which gives great benefit to the community.
Funding is no longer available but if they could be assisted until the new EC Directive becomes operational in August they could then become self-financing.
It is indefensible for the government not to provide the assistance that is required.
