DURING the week of Prayers for Christian Unity the member churches of the Stourport Churches Forum signed a Covenant declaring their common belief in Jesus Christ and pledging to work together wherever possible.
The Covenant was drawn up to demonstrate that Christian unity can and does exist between the individual churches while each member church continues to retain its own individuality and traditions.
Some current examples of co-operation across all the churches are the organisation of Christian Aid Collecting and fund-raising in the town, the annual carnival float, the regular meetings of all town clergy and the Good Friday procession and service.
Signed copies of the Covenant are held in each of the member churches who are Vernon Hall, St Michael and All Angels, All Saints at Wilden, Baptist, St Wulstan and St Thomas of Canterbury Roman Catholic, Methodist and St Bartholomew at Areley Kings.
Details of all the churches can be found on the web site at www.stourportchurchesforum.co.uk
