YOUR story headlined "MP Foster blasted in Cripplegate backlash" (Evening News, Friday, February 11) simply goes to show that neither the Conservatives nor New Labour can be trusted with our green spaces.
We have not forgotten 1992, when Labour tried to sell off our park to build a supermarket there - it was their undoing.
It is rather rich of Mike Foster to describe Cripplegate as "valuable green space". New Labour and the Tories seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Mr Foster's Party would have ripped this valuable "green lung" from our city for yet more shopping.
The Tories want to create yet more tarmac for parking - how does catering for ever-growing numbers of cars square with the need to reduce congestion and improve our air quality?
Only the Green Party can be trusted with our green spaces - only the Greens put the environment and human health and well-being at the heart of all our policies.
We will be standing candidates in St John's and all the seats in Worcester City at the County elections in May.
The people of Worcester will have a real choice between the 'business-as-usual' politicians and the party that cares about Cripplegate.
ROBERT WILKINS,
Worcester Green Party,
Worcester.
