FINANCING is proving to be difficult for Broadway's Tourism Information Centre, which is hoping to move into its new home in April.
At present the TIC, based in the shopping arcade Cotswold Court, is run by volunteers with some financial help from the parish council.
It's new home earmarked for it in the refurbished Gordon Russell building, but although the new base will be available practically rent free, a report commissioned by Wychavon District Council recommends that a paid manager should run it which will incur extra costs.
Since a story about the uncertainty of the TIC's future appeared in The Journal last November, no solution for funding has emerged.
Phil Merrick, head of community services at Wychavon District Council said: "The funding situation is likely to be a bid to Evesham Market Town partnership but they won't have funding till April this year. Also, there is clearly no point opening it till building work is completed on the Gordon Russell site."
