WORCESTERSHIRE'S top education boss has insisted no decision has been taken on a new site for King Charles I High School although a move is almost certainly on the cards.
Julien Kramer, director of educational services at Worcestershire County Council, said the shake-up of district schools would need to be passed by an independent committee before any firm plans could be put on the table.
He explained a move was most likely if the shake-up plans, to go to a primary and secondary school set-up, were passed.
He said: "The present site at King Charles is too small for the needs of a 21st century high school with the sort of design ambitions we have so it would be highly desirable to find a larger, more suitable site."
Mr Kramer said, however, that "we haven't got that far", as the independent Schools Organisation Committee has to meet to ratify the council's plans in April.
If it does not agree, then an independent adjudicator will be brought in to make the final decision, as was the case with Alexander Patterson special school in Wolverley last year.
l A county council review of special schools in Wyre Forest has been postponed until after the county elections in May.
