THE Prudden Road Surfacing Tennis League's annual meeting takes place next Tuesday, starting at 7.30pm at the Royal British Legion Club in Bidford.
Even after last year's record number of teams applying to join, this year sets yet another record entry of team applications for the 2005 season.
The five new teams hoping to join are a Claverdon C team plus new ones from Ardencote Manor, Harbury, Snitterfield and Whitnash.
This mens' doubles summer league covers the South Warwickshire and district areas of the Midlands and also runs an annual one-day pairs tournament and an inter-league Charity Cup Final.
The 36 member teams come mainly from clubs in South Warwickshire, but also include sides from Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
The league will be forced to add a fourth division to the existing set-up.
The league continues to be backed by Redditch company Prudden Road Surfacing, who enter their ninth season as sponsors.
Asphalt Express, also from Redditch, have also agreed to donate £50 cheques to each divisional winner - the proceeds to be used to promote junior tennis.
Tony King of Alcester has again promised financial backing for the annual floodlit tournament for a 15th successive year.
The league, though, is on the lookout for a replacement sponsor to provide balls for the pairs tournament.
All clubs wishing to enter the league in 2005 are required, under the rules, to send a representative to the meeting. Refreshments will be supplied.
Clubs requiring more details are asked to contact the league secretary on 01789 778357 or e-mail swastennis@aol.com.
