EVESHAM High School pupil Dan Keen won the senior age group race at the Worcestershire Schools Cross Country Championships in spectacular style.

Forty athletes lined up for the four-lap 6,000 metre race. On the first lap Dan was in a breakaway group of five including pre-race favourite Christian Brooker.

This group took 50 metres on the field and remained intact until the last lap with Dan arriving in the middle of the five.

The two fought it out over the final lap with Dan in second place until 400 metres from the finish when he took the lead to achieve a comfortable win.

Fellow pupils Jessica Wheatley, Callum Tustin, Emma Roberts, Adam Styles, Aaron Keen, Sara Howe, Nichola Beasley, Chloe Farrar, James Heritage and Jim Morris also competed. Jessica finished sixth and quali-fied for the Nationals.
