BUSINESSES in Worcestershire are among those who have given their backing to Britain's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee began its visit to the UK this week, and businesses joined with Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell MP, at a special reception for the event.
The West Midlands Business Council, which represents hundreds of firms in Worcestershire and more than 100,000 in the rest of the region, was there to demonstrate that when it comes to jobs and prosperity, a successful London bid would be good for business.
Martin Chambers, spokesman for the WMBC, was with the Secretary of State.
"We have given unanimous backing for London to win the bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games as this can only be a winner for West Midlands business," he said.
"We can ensure that when the focus falls on Britain, our great links to every part of the UK and our entrepreneurial culture means that we can attract inward investment.
"That's why West Midlands business is demonstrating its commitment for Britain and is very supportive of London winning the Olympic Bid."
