AS plans move ahead for turning part of Kempsey Community Centre into a children's day nursery, the centre's management committee is heading for redundancy.
The committee, which has charitable status, will be wound up and management of the building will revert to the parish council, which owns the former school building.
"The committee no longer seems necessary, but there is still quite a bit of work to do before it goes," said chairman Joy Clee, at this week's meeting of the parish council.
Meanwhile, plans have been submitted to Malvern Hills District Council for the change of use of part of the Community Centre, which already houses a hairdressing salon.
The aim is to use the main hall, kitchen and the whole of the headmaster's house next door as a children's day nursery, while a smaller meeting room will be used for an after-school club.
The parish office, currently on the first floor of the headmaster's house, will move to a block behind the Community Centre.
Under the plans, which have still to be approved, an outbuilding behind the house will be demolished to make space for an outdoor play area for the day nursery.
