STAFF at a Christian resource centre are rejoicing after work on a £20,000 kitchen extension is set to finish next week.

Work started on the kitchen extension - at The Lyttelton Well in Church Street, Malvern - earlier this month - and is due to end on Monday.

And, while building work is underway, the coffee shop has temporarily relocated to the Guesten Room downstairs - but is also set to re-open on Monday.

Manager Jean Holt said the building work was necessary to meet health and safety regulations and that the extension will allow both chefs to cook at once.

"Miracles do happen - the council of management gave the go-ahead for the kitchen extension last month.

"We had all the contractors' assigned and ready to work for Monday, February 7.

"They've all worked wonderfully together and we're back in the coffee house on Monday.

"Impossible? Never, when God is in charge," she said.

The centre - which incorporates a coffee shop, Christian bookshop, meeting room for community events and a counselling service - previously planned to extend into its courtyard and the scheme was given permission last year.

However, Severn Trent Water objected as a public sewer is located below the courtyard.

The centre is now set to start fund-raising to build a toilet between the coffee shop and book shop.
