PLANS to locate a one stop shop in an extension to Upton Library were discussed by the town council this week.
Malvern Hills District Council has allocated £100,000 for the project, planned for land owned by West Mercia Police. It will offer similar services to the Malvern Library Customer Service Centre.
The police station moving into the one stop shop and its land being sold off for housing was one possibility that worried Coun Simon Wilkinson, as was the loss of the parking space in currently front of the building.
Coun Tim Perry said he felt the town hall should house the one stop shop instead of the library, as it was more accessible.
But Coun Eric White said community groups needed to use the town hall building.
He added a registrar was needed in Upton and should run sessions from the one stop shop.
The town council also felt that the district council should have consulted it before announcing plans. The authority will write to the district to ask to be consulted in future.
