A Former Malvern Town footballer has been jailed.
Wesley Joyce, 23, hit Wayne Southall with a glass after an argument at Worcester's RSPV bar on November 29, 2003. Mr Southall suffered cuts under his right eye and on his forehead.
Joyce, of Canterbury Road, Worcester, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. At Worcester Crown Court, Judge Michael Mott sentenced him to three years and nine months.
The assault followed an argument in the bar. Joyce had drunk nine pints of lager.
Victoria Clifford, for Joyce, said: "This has brought great shame to him and his family."
Joyce played for Malvern earlier this season, scoring eight goals in six ties then moving on to Evesham.
