NEWTOWN Sports Colts visited Droitwich Spa Panthers on a very cold and blustery afternoon.

DROITWICH SPA PANTHERS U14S 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U14S 5

On a very heavy pitch, a re-jigged midfield of Edwards, Powell, Allison, Hale and Caffull found passing very difficult. Droitwich defended deeply, so the Colts front runners, Buckle and Newell, found it difficult to make any inroads. With plenty of possession, the Colts created several half chances, before Hale opened the scoring. Elmes, Allison and Edwards combined to set Hale free to shoot past the keeper. Hale grabbed a second when he created his own opening and fired a left-foot shot into the bottom corner. Edwards made it three just before half-time, when he latched on to a through ball and fired home.

Droitwich battled back in the second-half, so Elmes, Scullion and Roskams had to be on their toes in the Colts defence. White, a half-time sub, settled the nerves with a well-taken solo effort, but an injury to Caffull meant the Colts played the last 15 minutes with 10 men. Johnson came out of goal and was unlucky not to add to the tally, though Powell wrapped up the scoring with a simple tap-in.

FC PHOENIX 7, BROMYARD TOWN GIRLS U13S 1

BROMYARD Town Girls U13s were emphatically beaten away at local rivals Phoenix in this Mercian League encounter.

Contrary to the score, Bromyard began the match well, playing arguably some of their best football of the season in very windy conditions that prevailed throughout the match.

Indeed in the first 10 minutes Phoenix were unable to get the ball out of their half. Bromyard went close on a couple of occasions but were unable to press home their superiority. A swift counter-attack then saw Phoenix take the lead, with new goalkeeper Hattie Huckle having no chance.

Heads immediately seemed to drop in the Town team and within 10 minutes Phoenix had increased their lead by two further goals.

In the second half things got worse for Bromyard and by midway Phoenix had added a further three goals with the Bromyard defence struggling and substitute keeper Sarah Hoffman given no chance.

After a neat interchange involving Tasha Merris, Bromyard's captain Clare Almond pulled one goal back but Phoenix soon restored their six-goal advantage.
