A YOUNG musician from Malvern is about to make her debut at London's Wigmore Hall.
Violinist Eleanor Percy, 25, will be performing on Sunday, March 6, as one half of Duo, her musical partnership with pianist Irina Lyakhovskaya.
In the audience for the concert on Mothers' Day will be her parents, who made their own debut on the same stage 27 years ago. An appearance at the hall is always regarded as a major step forward in a musical career.
The concert is being held to mark the release of Duo's latest CD, the first volume in the first-ever complete recording of Mozart's sonatas.
"It's hard to believe that no-one has recorded all of the sonatas before, but there was this gap to fill and we're filling it," said Eleanor.
They will perform two of the sonatas at the Wigmore Hall concert, as well as works by Beethoven and Brahms.
Eleanor grew up surrounded by music, as her mother Irena and father Richard played the piano and clarinet respectively.
"I used to go to sleep listening to my mother practising and my father practising," she recalled. "The house was always filled with music."
Eleanor decided at the age of 11 to pursue music as a full-time career and her parents have always been on hand to provide her with guidance.
Her appearance at Wigmore Hall will bring back memories for Richard and Irena, who made their own debut there in January 1977.
Eleanor studied at the Chase, whose music department she remembers as "fantastic", before going on to Trinity College of Music, London.
Here in 2000, she and Irina formed Duo and in 2003 recorded their first commercial CD, which led to the Mozart commission. Their work has attracted praise from eminent musicians such as Raphael Wallfisch.
Tickets (£13, £11, £8) are available from the Wigmore Hall box office on 0207 935 2141.
