THE hunting ban has not begun and I will be very interested to see the reaction of the police.
A recent letter in your newspaper from Bob Jones spoke of motorists disobeying the law by using Angel Place as a rat-run.
The police taking no notice of the blatant abuse by motorists contravening the highway laws is typical in many areas.
Over several years, many residents have complained regarding the excessive abuse by motorists. But so far, the police have taken no action.
In a letter dated January 10 2000, a former high-ranking police officer stated that prohibitions - to be effective - relied on high enforcement.
I would think to chase huntsmen in red coats would also place a heavy strain on police resources. Surely the general public would expect the police to act even-handed and enforce all laws - however difficult?
