A COMPLICATED court case occupied the columns of the Malvern Gazette a century ago.
The action was brought by the Duke Gandolfi (also known as Mr Thomas Charles Hornyold), of Blackmore Park, against Henry Guy, stationer, of Church Street.
The case related to the making of King Edward's Road, on the Wood Farm building estate in Malvern Wells.
It seemed that Mr Hornyold offered some of the land for sale in 1902, which Mr Guy bought.
Mr Hornyold paid to have King Edward's Road built and was now claiming that Mr Guy should pay part of the cost of making the road.
In turn, Mr Guy argued that King Edward's Road was not complete and so he shouldn't have to pay.
There was a lot of complex argument about liability and whether sewers should have been constructed. In the end, it was decided that Mr Guy was entitled to £50 damages, as a result of Mr Hornyold not completing the road.
