IT'S not every day the people of Worcester have a meal cooked for them by a celebrity chef.

But now they can do just that in a new restaurant in the city centre.

TV star Patrick McDonald is to launch his latest epic' bar and Brasserie in the heart of the city centre.

Mr McDonald - a Michelin star chef - who lives in Evesham, has already taken the county by storm with similar establishments in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove, and Dunhampton, near Ombersley.

"Worcester is an ideal city for my bar. It is a fashionable and trendy place where people can meet for a drink with their friends or partner," he said.

"I have been Worcestershire-based for many years and it has been my ambition to open an epic' bar in Worcester itself."

The restaurant, which is in New Street, is being advertised as an ideal venue for a quick lunch or for social dining.

The epic' menu features such mouth-watering delights as soup and smoked salmon for starters, and cod, duck, and chive risotto for main courses.

A variety of cheeses, cappuccino mousse, and hot chocolate fondant are just some of the delights on the dessert list.

"The beauty about the epic' brand is that is suits everyone," added Mr McDonald, who hosted his own Channel 4 series, If You Can't Stand the Heat.

"People can enjoy the luxurious settings without paying extortionate prices. A lot of our custom is for families and we welcome children.

"The people of Worcestershire are very close to my heart and I personally want to them to have a fantastic time when they visit us.

"After all, epic' stands for an Exciting Place In the City."

The new bar opens to the public next Saturday, February 26.

A special launch will be held next Thursday for friends and family.
