WORCESTERSHIRE'S buy-to-let market is booming according to housebuilder KingsOak South Midlands.
The firm, which builds around 500 new homes in the region each year, has noticed a particular demand for rental properties in Evesham.
It is currently building 61 apartments at its development called Avon Place, on Conduit Hill.
A number of the properties have been bought by a local businessman, who believes the market is still good enough to help boost his pension.
Alan Littlewood, who was born and raised in Evesham, said he no plans to retire yet, but in light of an expected shortfall in his endowment policy, as well as the country's pension crisis, he decided to take action.
"Rather than sit back and worry about how I might be able to enjoy my retirement, my fiancee and I chose to release some of the equity in our current homes and use the money to invest in more property," he said.
"Initially, we only planned to buy one, but after some extensive research, we came to the conclusion that Evesham was the idea place to invest and that now is the time to take advantage of the market here."
Alison Tindle, sales director for KingsOak, added: "Properties in Evesham make a sound investment as the market hasn't overheated and the short-term capital gain is likely to be higher."
