ANYONE thinking of causing mischief in Worcester City Centre should think again as a new CCTV camera will be watching their every move 24-hours a day.
Worcester City Council planning committee gave the go-ahead yesterday for a new state-of-the-art camera to be positioned on Bewise in Broad Street.
It will replace the current one positioned on the Chapel Walk entrance canopy at the Crowngate Shopping Centre.
Coun Francis Lankester said the area around Broad Street and Angel Place was a crime hotspot.
"If we want to give people confidence that they can enjoy the city at any time of day or night then this is the way to do it," he added.
Coun Geoff Williams said the real value of the camera is that it could lead to offenders being prosecuted as it would record activity 24-hours a day.
