WAR memories will be recorded by school pupils across Worcestershire thanks to a £22,232 Lottery grant.
Ten high schools will take part in a Their Past Your Future programme as part of events marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
"The diverse number of activities chosen by the schools will include subsidised trips to the Normandy beaches, developing partnerships with veterans associations, concerts involving music from the 1940s and providing support for annual remembrance events," said senior schools inspector John Prangnell from Worcestershire County Council.
"Knowledge of our history enables us to understand our nation's traditions and its conflicts, and teaches children respect and appreciation," added Big Lottery Fund West Midlands manager John Taylor.
