STUART Watkiss is urging his downcast Kidderminster Harriers men to believe they can win the "three-horse race" to avoid relegation.
Harriers threw away a two-goal lead in Coca-Cola League Two on Saturday to lose 4-2 at fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town who are now 13 points clear in the table.
Kidderminster are effectively two wins behind main rivals Rushden and Diamonds, who are due to visit Aggborough for a huge clash on March 19, and three points ahead of bottom side Cambridge United.
Watkiss, whose team have another big clash at home to Bristol Rovers tomorrow night, admitted: "I never actually thought Shrewsbury were in the equation. I'd certainly swap positions with them.
"To all intents and purposes, they're safe and it's a three-horse race. We have to make sure we win that three-horse race. We're not done for. We still have a lot to play for and we'll give it a go.
"I don't really question the players' commitment at all. The effort and work ethic was okay at Shrewsbury but obviously we didn't do our job from set-pieces.
"I drove into the ground believing we could win but the players ultimately have to believe.
"The most difficult part is getting the players to believe and giving them the confidence to put themselves on the line to get us out of this situation."
