MARK Rawle looks set to be Kidderminster Harriers boss Stuart Watkiss' next throw of the dice in their bid to avoid relegation.
But the speedy Oxford United striker, 25, will not face Bristol Rovers at Aggborough tonight (7.45).
Rawle, who has also bagged goals for Boston and Southend, is still talking terms over a move until the end of the season after joining Harriers for training yesterday.
Harriers need a vital Aggborough win to make up ground on Rushden and Diamonds in what Watkiss believes has become a "three-horse race".
But they must get over a three-match losing run that has included demoralising defeats to fellow strugglers Chester City and Shrewsbury Town.
Harriers threw away a two-goal lead at Shrewsbury, conceding several through corners, and they must defend better from set-pieces tonight against Ian Atkins' imposing outfit.
Watkiss admitted: "We have to believe we can beat Bristol Rovers. The players have to pick themselves up and they have a duty to carry on giving absolutely everything.
"We'll give it a go. Ultimately, at the end of the season if it's not good enough, but you know you've done all you possibly can, then I don't think you can beat yourself up about it.
"But you are gutted. I go home and ask myself 'Is there something I'm doing I shouldn't be or am I missing something?'. I don't think I am in all honesty.
"We work on things on the training ground, we're out looking at the opposition and I'm trying to recruit players. I don't think I can do much more than I am at the moment.
"Until we get that winning formula, I'm going to have to carry on looking, working, scratching my head and trying to come up with something new.
"But I count myself really fortunate and lucky that I can come 'to work'. I wouldn't want to be anywhere different. I have a massive task on my hands but it's my passion and I wouldn't swap it for anyone."
The Aggborough faithful are likely to give a warm welcome to old favourite, defender Craig Hinton, who left for Rovers in the summer after six successful seasons with Kidderminster.
Forward Gary Birch (knee) may figure and Harriers hope midfielder Dean Keates can return tonight from a shoulder injury.
Watkiss is also likely to restore left-back Billy Jones to the line-up, while defender Mark Jackson is ready for his home debut.
