A LEADING county theatre group is on the lookout for a "flexible" pianist as the company begins rehearsals for its next show Les Misrables (schools version).
The piano player should be of Grade 7 or 8 standard with a leaning towards rock-style and be a good reader of music.
Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section is staging the musical at the city's Swan Theatre from Tuesday, July 26, to Saturday, July 30.
Musical director Jane Whittle is assistant director of music at Abberley Hall Preparatory School, near Worcester, but she needs a rehearsal pianist to allow her to leave the piano playing and become more involved with conducting and helping the youngsters with their songs.
The rehearsal pianist's job would be voluntary, but he or she would also play with the orchestra when the show is staged.
Producer and director David Humphries will lead an experienced WODYS cast of some 70 talented eight-18 year-olds in this his 14th production with the youth section. If anyone is interested in becoming WODYS rehearsal pianist they should contact Mrs Whittle on 01299 890134.
