ARTHUR James, baker, Market Place, was charged with having no control over a horse and cart in Queen Street on the 15th inst.
Police Constable Green stated that defendant's horse and trap was left unattended for a quarter of an hour.
Defendant denied this.
He added he could not get his living without leaving his cart for a few minutes.
The Bench told defendant that he must not leave his horse and cart unattended and fined him 5s and 4s costs.
Defendant said he had no money and could not pay and the Bench replied that if the fine was not paid, defendant would go to gaol for seven days.
Defendant (who was removed in custody): thank you.
