THE three main political parties were today challenged by the West Midlands business community to fund skills training.
The call comes after a significant shortfall in skilled people for available jobs was revealed.
In Worcestershire and Herefordshire, the Learning and Skills Council is ploughing £105m into the problem.
But now local firms are looking to politicians for more help.
"Business is working with the public sector but despite our best efforts, we need more Government support for management, and technical training." said West Midlands Business Council chairman, John Hart

"Advantage West Midlands and the West Midlands Learning and Skills Councils should be congratulated for their positive approach to this work.
"But despite our best efforts, we need more Government support for management, leadership and technical training
"That is why I have written to all the main parties for their assurances that they won't forget the need to fund high level workplace skills training."
