PUPILS at St Benedict's RC High School will be using text to tackle bullying as part of a £185,000 countywide scheme.
Students at the Kinwarton Road school are among those benefiting from Text2Talk, an initiative which encourages victims to report incidents of bullying and racial harassment through text messages.
Warwickshire County Council has teamed up with the county's police, Connexions youth service, the Positive About Young People group and Stagecoach Bus Company to run the service in Warwickshire Schools.
Under the scheme, youngsters can report bullying confidentially to a call centre and will be contacted discreetly. Bullies will also receive help to correct their behaviour.
The scheme has been run successfully in three other Warwickshire schools and follows a police survey which revealed text messages were the most effective way to report bullying.
