A GLOBE-trotting Pershore woman has been pounding streets across the world in preparation to run her first London Marathon in April.
Laura Robertson, a British Airways long-haul flight stewardess, has been busy training for the 26-mile race since September and has had the pleasure of running in cities including Washington and Phoenix in Arizona, and she will be pacing herself in Mauritius next week.
The 34-year-old from Pensham near Pershore, who is hoping her run will raise £10,000 to equip a palliative care room in the new Pershore Hospital when it is built, said she is currently up to about 15 miles and will be building up to 20 miles over the next few weeks.
"I run six days a week so it's great to be able to see the sights in other countries," she said.
"I always ask the concierge at the hotel for a safe route - if there isn't one unfortunately I have to train on the running machine."
To help Laura raise the £10,000, Pershore Hospital League of Friends has set up a website where people with e-mail access can sponsor her.
To sponsor Laura visit www.justgiving.com/cottagehospital or send donations to the hospital at Defford Road, Pershore WR10 1HZ.
