STAFF at a Kidderminster fish and chip shop are celebrating after earning an award recognising their commitment to cleanliness.
Foley Fish Bar, Stourport Road, has been given a Clean Food Award by Wyre Forest District Council for high standards of food safety and hygiene.
It is the only fish and chip shop in the district to currently hold the award, which was issued after inspections by the council's environmental health officers.
Nick Akathiotis, co-owner of the fish bar said: "We already have a fish quality award but it's good to be recognised for being clean.
"It's also been good working closely with the district council officers who have checked the hygiene standards for us. It's nice to know they are helping us out."
The presentation of the award took place on Tuesday last week as part of the celebrations for National Chip Week and was attended by Kidderminster Carnival queen, Stacey Andrews, who works in the shop.
Councillor Maureen Aston, cabinet member for housing, health and rural affairs said: "The Clean Food Award recognises food premises in the district which attained and maintained high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene practices."
She added: "Foley Fish Bar has shown its commitment to food safety and raising standards and the award acknowledges this."
