CHILDREN of all ages have shown pride in their mums in our Evening News Mother's Day competition.

On Monday, we offered readers the opportunity to have a very special hand-tied spring posy delivered to five of Worcester's finest mums.

Four-year-old Thomas Baker, of Ombersley Road, Worcester, wrote in - with the help of his gran - to nominate his "miracle mummy" Juliet.

Thomas was called a "miracle baby boy" by his mother, after he was born prematurely at 23 weeks.

Juliet is now expecting another baby and the family are hoping for an easier time, with lots of "love and laughter".

Blackpole's Alison Aston's mother, Josie Meadows, who suffers with arthritis, is described as "always ready with open arms to help the elderly, to be a shoulder to cry on or just offer a friendly cup of tea".

Alison's father is a caretaker for elderly residents and her mother always bakes "huge amounts of apple pie" for the residents.

Eleanor Williams, of Newbury Road, Dines Green, Worcester, said: "Our mum is the best because she got us a dog and always lets us stay up late and gets us cool presents. I really love her."

Everyone who wrote in expressed a heartfelt love for their mothers.

We would love to hear your story, all you have to do is write to us and tell us, in no more than 200 words, what makes your mum so special and why you think she deserves a special posy of spring flowers.

Your nominations must reach us by no later than first post on Monday, February 28.

The lucky winners will receive their flowers on Saturday, March 5, in time for Mother's Day.

However, please remember to put your full name, age, the name of your mother, your address and your mother's address, if different, together with your daytime telephone number and send your nomination to: My Mum is Best, News Desk, Evening News, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JX
