UPTON'S Sophie Thornton, who hit the headlines last week after saving her brother's life, has been given an award by her school.
The five-year-old pupil at Upton CE Primary was presented with the Head Teacher's Award at an assembly on Monday.
Sophie, of Rectory Road, came to the rescue when her 10-month-old brother Joseph swallowed the lid of a toothpaste tube. She removed it from his throat and prevented him choking.
Headteacher Mark Mumby said: "She's a very brave little girl."
