WHAT about the river? The local transport questionnaire asks about reducing congestion, getting people on their bike, better public transport but says not a word about the obvious link running north to south through Worcestershire, the River Severn.
It is about to remove 340,000 lorry journeys at Ryall, where a new loading place is being built. Empty wharves wait at Stourport, Worcester, Tewkesbury, Gloucester and right to the sea at Sharpness.
It's a splendid way to bring containers in from overseas and move bulky goods around. I wonder how many transport managers have looked into the cheap costs of water transport?
Surely our county council should be encouraging them and pointing to the Government grants there for the bold to ask for.
I hope lots of people, like me, will be asking the council what they are doing about it.
