MALVERN Rugby Club kept pressure on the two leading Midlands Two West teams with the best league victory of the day at basement-club Nuneaton Old Boys on Saturday.
Although leaders Burton and Hinckley both also won, Malvern have now scored the most points in the league, 515, and have conceded the least, 178. A points difference that could be important in the final round-up.
Malvern's performance against Nuneaton was comfortable rather than awesome but as long as they keep winning director of rugby David Robins will be more than happy.
Robins said: "You can't expect a vintage performance every week - our objective is to stay in contention and win the rest of our fixtures. Having said that, we scored six tries and came through relatively unscathed on the injury front. This is important to us with a tough fixture ahead of us against Kenilworth on Saturday.
"They have got stronger as the season has gone on and are always competitive, even though they lost to a strengthened Stoke side. We know from previous seasons that no side can be under-estimated and we must treat every game with equal importance."
Kenilworth are still fourth in the league table despite their 5-11 home defeat by Stoke on Saturday and Malvern will need to be at their best to collect the all-important two points.
Kick-off is 2.15pm at Spring Lane, with the match being preceded by a vice-presidents' lunch.
