STAFF at the Worcester branches of NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland have decided to support local and national charities by donating directly from their pay packet.
NatWest is also helping out by "double matching" any contribution its staff make through the its "Give As You Earn" scheme.
Charities have so far received more than £2,422 from local workers in this financial year.
"Payroll giving is a highly effective way to donate to charity," said Jon Fox, regional managing director for NatWest.
"This scheme also means that for every pound donated through the pay packet, the bank will donate a further
£2, with a maximum £200 per month per person. So it really is a great way to donate money."
Staff can give to any organisation they choose as long as it is of charitable status or is an institution such as a school, hospital or youth club which is eligible to receive tax efficient donations.
