FOR Alice Otley Junior School pupils, yesterday was "Tiger Day" and they celebrated by dressing as tigers, with striped costumes and painted faces.
Headteacher of the Britannia Square school Marion Lloyd was thrilled with the amount of money the three to 10-year-olds raised for the World Wildlife Fund project.
"We've had a really fun day and raised money for a really worthwhile cause," she said.
"The girls have taken part in all sorts of fun activities during the day such as a tiger treasure hunt."
The teachers also got into the spirit of the day and dressed up as the endangered animal.
Everyone at the school made a donation of a minimum of £1 for the charity.
The youngsters started thinking about conservation after the Year 3 girls adopted a tiger.
