A GARDEN centre near Droitwich has been named the top plant seller in Britain.
Webbs of Wychbold beat hundreds of other garden centres to the top spot after a rigorous inspection by judges from The Garden Centre Association.
The family-owned firm came out on top for selling the best indoor, outdoor and aquatic plants in the country and becomes the only garden centre ever to win all three plant categories in the same year.
Ed Webb, group managing director, said he was delighted.
"We've won more awards over the years than any other garden centre but to be the best plant seller in Britain is the crowning glory," he said.
"We believe one of our greatest strengths is that we grow many of our plants here in our own nursery which are carefully nurtured by our 40 plants staff.
"Their skill and dedication helps make all the difference."
Garden Centre Association judge Ian Boardman said Webbs' plants were excellent quality, the displays creative and the housekeeping immaculate.
"All in all, it was a joy to walk around and to shop.
"Staff were attentive and visible and their position as the Best Plants in the GCA for 2004 is well deserved and a credit to all the team."
