EVESHAM United moved up one place to second in the Southern League Division One West and within striking distance of leaders Mangotsfield United.

They recorded a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Thame United at the Windmill Stadium to take advantage of Clevedon Town's home draw with Bromsgrove Rovers.

Dave Busst's side never looked back after taking an early lead and when Thame were reduced to 10 men after half-an-hour, it was plain sailing for the Robins to record their fifth straight win.

United made a dream start going in front after only three minutes when Gavin O'Toole got on the end of Jermaine Clark's knock-down and coolly lobbed Steve Smith in the Thame goal.

Some good possession from Evesham followed and they extended their lead after 30 minutes.

Matt Hall bore down on goal only to be brought down from behind by Jon Wilson and the referee dismissed Wilson before Richard Ball netted from the spot.

Evesham started the second-half with a bang and added a third on 48 minutes.

Smith made a good block to deny Ball and Hall followed up to net the rebound.

Thame were looking a ragged outfit and Hall, now a permanent signing from Moor Green, capped an impressive performance with United's fourth goal in the 65th minute.

He beat Smith all ends up with a stunning finish from outside the box.

Further chances fell Evesham's way before the end but Smith was up to the task, making excellent saves from substitute Simeon Williams and Clarke.
