TWENTY-three YFC members braved the cold, windy weather to take part in the annual hedgelaying competition.
The competitors chose which style they wanted to hedgelay in- either Midland Style or Welsh Border Style.
There are different styles as basically it depends on the animals kept in by the hedges, the climate and how the plants grow in the area.
Midland Style, which is also known as Bullock style, was designed to keep big heavy bullocks in their field.
This style is mainly found in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire - traditional beef rearing areas. The Welsh Border Style uses dead wood to protect the new growth.
The judges for the day were George Bevan and Rowley Morris and the winners were Mike Shaw, of Crowle YFC, John Baines, of Cutnall Green and Tom Drew of Bromsgrove YFC.
