A MAN whose BMW ploughed into the side of a house escaped with only arm injuries after fire crews needed nearly two hours to cut him from his car.
The incident happened around 9.15am yesterday when the car, pictured right, left the road near the Kingfisher Marina, Pershore, careered down a bank and smashed through the brick wall of a warehouse.
The 53-year-old was taken by Air Ambulance to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
Station officer Mike Cunningham of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said a hi-tech computer programme was used to assess where the car could be cut safely.
"We are one of the few brigades to have this Vehicle Mounted Data System," he said.
"Because it was a modern car there were side impact bags and sensors and we had to isolate and dislocate the electrics so they were not activated.
"We then had to cut the seats out and then carefully take the roof off.
"The car was supported front and back at all times because it was like a see-saw balancing on the window ledge six feet up."
